Social Responsibility

With considerable experience in and a commitment to the public sector, we take Social Responsibility very seriously

The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 stipulates that all public bodies must consider how the services they procure or commission might contribute to the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of their local communities. We understand this and play an active role in assisting our clients to identify regeneration, employment and training opportunities for their residents and the wider local communities.

We are committed to delivering improvements to the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the communities that we work with, and achieve this by:

  • Stimulating local economies by endorsing investment in businesses and communities within our clients’ areas of activity
  • Appointing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and making sub-contracting opportunities more accessible
  • Providing training, apprenticeship, work experience and employment opportunities, particularly for young, disadvantaged or under-represented groups of people in the wider community
  • Increasing the sustainability of communities by ensuring we facilitate investment in environmentally-friendly services and technology Encouraging social integration through sponsorship of local community sports and social clubs and communal areas in social housing to increase community cohesion.

We have our own charitable organisation, Effinity Charitable Foundation (Registered Charity Number 1156956), the object of which is to provide disadvantaged young people with opportunities for self-improvement and help them participate in society to a greater extent as mature and responsible individuals.

We are fully dedicated to social responsibility, and are determined that our charitable foundation will allow us to continue giving back to the community and those most in need through volunteering and local sponsorship initiatives.

Each year, we nominate a main charity to work with to support community causes.  Charities we have worked with include Widehorizons Education Trust, the RAF Benevolent Fund, the NSPCC, Children with Leukaemia, British Heart Foundation, Against Breast Cancer, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and Whizz-Kidz.

In addition, we routinely support individual charitable acts through providing financial donations and volunteering time to good causes.
